Happy News!

I have finally decided that I am going to take all of the wonderful advice that you gave and I am going to give them all of those. I need to get working on that! Santa and Mrs. Clause said that they would help me get it all together. You know Mrs. Clause is a wonderful cook! I asked her if I could post another recipe and she said that would be wonderful! So here it is!

"Santa's Whisker's" cookies

Makes 60

3/4 cup Margarine
2 cups Flour
3/4 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
3/4 cup finely chopped candied red or green cherries
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 cup coconut

Beat margarine with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half the flour, the sugar, milk, and vanilla. Beat till thoroughly combined. Stir in remaining flour. Stir in cherries and pecans. Shape into 8-inch rolls. Roll in coconut. Wrap in wax paper; chill 2- 24 hours. Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on an un-greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden. Cool cookies on a wire rack. Makes about 60.

So give that a try and let me know what you think! Mrs. Clause is such a nice lady!

The other day I was talking with some of the other Elf's and one asked me what I would like to if I was not an elf. I thought this was a crazy question because I LOVE being and Elf. But it got me thinking. What would I be. I think it would be fun to work for Toys R Us or something like that! I also think it would be fun to be a firefighter or police officer. They are always out making sure we are all safe. So I have a question for you.... what do you want to be when you are all grown up???

Well I have to go! I have so to do before Christmas and my Hot cocoa break is over!!

Love your buddy,
Orophin

Hey there!

How are you kids doing? I sure hope you're doing well. I am! I saw the movie I have been waiting ALL year to see. High School Musical 3!! I just loved it! The music and songs are so fun! I'm sure you kids all saw it too.

Anyway, we are still working away trying to make sure all these presents are ready for Christmas. I, myself, have been getting things ready for Santa's Thanksgiving dinner with the In-laws! Boy oh boy hope it all goes well! I want to impress Santa! He said, that if I could pull everything off on time, I could RIDE IN THE SLEIGH ON CHRISTMAS!

I am so excited!

I've been thinking a lot about what I am Thankful for.

Here are some things:

  • Santa and Mrs. Claus

  • Toys

  • Christmas

  • Silly reindeer

  • TURKEY! Mmm!

  • Hot chocolate

  • My home

Any ideas?

I'm sure you all are wondering what's been going on around here.

Well, I will tell you!

A LOT!

My goodness it is so hard just to remember to brush my hair in the morning! It has been so busy. Once November hits, we get slammed! More and more kids are thinking about Christmas and doing what they can do to get on the Nice List!

That's a good thing, but one cup of cocoa in the morning just doesn't cut it sometimes!

Well, las time I posted, I had mentioned that Santa was paging me a lot.

Here's the scoop...

His In-Laws are coming in to town! That's right! Mrs. Claus' parents! He's frantic!!

He gave me one huge checklist of things I need to get done before they get here!

They are coming just in time for Thanksgiving and I've been hussling around trying to make sure everything gets taken care of.

He left me in charge of deciding what we're going to eat for Thanksgiving.

Now, of course we will have a Turkey, but what else should I serve for Thanksgiving dinner?

HELP ME OUT KIDS!

Sincerely frantic,

Orophin

A day in the life of an Elf

So I have been getting alot of emails about what I do all day. So I thought I would let you all know what my day goes like.

When I first wake up I brush my teeth and make my bed. Then I head over to Delphinas dinner for some yummy breakfast. I usually have eggs and toast with strawberry jam!! I love jam!!

Then I head over to Christmas headquarters to start working on all the preperations for Christmas. There is alot to do. I have to check the naughty or nice list everyday. Then I check on the gift wrapping center. We have to make sure we don't fall behind. We make so many toys that if we fell behind I don't know if we could wrap all the gifts in time. Then we have lunch. Mrs. Clause usually invites me to have lunch with her and Santa. I sure like her cooking. After lunch we head over to the candy factory. I REALLY like this part of the day. We get to test all of the candy to make sure it is good. At the end of the day we all get together and sing and dance. We love singing and dancing. When I get home at night I brush my teeth and head off to bed.

So that is a day in the life of an elf.

Compliments of Mrs. Claus

I was passing by Santa's cottage when I was overwhelmed with the yummiest baked cookies I have ever smelt in my life!!Now, that's 234 years of life we are talking about here. I went ahead and knocked on the door. Friendly Mrs. Claus answered the door and asked if I wanted to come in! Of course I said YES! Mmmmm! I was so anxious to see if she would offer me a cookie. I sat at the table with my cup of cocoa she knew I'd love. We started talking about my day at the toy factory. I was trying to explain how the "Stocking Stuffer" was sick today and we got set back a few hours, but all I could really think about were those warm, yummy, sweet cookies she was pulling out of the oven! They looked so delicious! While my explanation started trailing off, Mrs. Claus turned to look at me and gave a little laugh. She asked, "Orophin, would you like one of Santa's favorite sugar cookies?"
Oh YIPPEE!! I was so excited!
I said, "Sure! I would love one please!"
She grabbed me a plate with a cookie and a glass of milk. Oh boy! It was just how I had imagined! So yummy and sweet and delicious! We talked a little more and got on the subject of Santa's blog; The North Pole Daily! She thinks it's a wonderful idea. I talked about how good you kids have been lately. I shared about how Santa let me give you guys the secret Nice List Check List and her eyes got BIG!
She said,
"Oh my! We better get more toy making done! There will be even more kids on the Nice List this year now that the children know the list!"
She was so excited! She then offered to share her cookie recipe!
She said,
"well, if Santa can share something that is so special to him, then I most definitely can share something that is so special to me."
Mrs. Claus makes these cookies for Santa every Christmas! He loves them and she loves that he loves them! Now, she wants you to love them too!

Mrs. Claus' Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS
-In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt.

-Blow 5 kisses into the bowl to add extra love!
-Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight) .This gives the extra love (5 kisses) time to work!
-Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.

-Cut into shapes with any christmas cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Decorate and enjoy! Be sure to save Santa a few!!

Hope you kids are enjoying November! Talk to you soon!

Welcome to November!

Hey kids!

It's November now! Exciting, isn't it?

We are working away up here at the North Pole trying to get most of the Stocking Stuffers ready! Aren't stockings so much fun?!

Do you know why we loving filling your stockings?

It's an old tradition that started in Holland in the 16th century. The children would leave their clogs filled with hay for Santa's reindeer and in return, Santa would leave them a little treat. He was really quite fond of the idea. Now, we just moved to using stockings instead! More room for treats I guess!

There are so many wonderful traditions with Christmas. Not just the presents. We enjoy making the toys up here at the North Pole because we know it makes you happy and joyful. That's what Christmas is about; Bringing joy to others.

Reindeer Update!

Well,

Santa's friend Kaylee e-mailed asking about the reindeer! Santa insisted I get on and update you all on their progress for this year's trip around the world.

Every year I train the reindeer and get them back into shape from their long break!

We work on flying, running, their invisiblility and general appearance.
So far they are a little sluggish. They took too much time off!
Silly reindeer!
Dancer is actually fairly well, but let's just say he'll be laying off the Egg Nog until Christmas is over!
Do you have any suggestions for me on how to better prepare them for the annual Christmas Night Flight?

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Well kids,
I have been extra busy these last couple of days. Sorry for the delay, but I have been helping Santa put together the Naughty and Nice lists! I am pleased to report that the Nice List is longer than the Naughty List!
It's not too late to make it on the Nice list if you feel you haven't been your best! Christmas is still 61 days away! And Santa would love nothing more than for all you little boys and girls to be on the Nice list! That would be the BEST Christmas gift Santa himself could ever ask for!

So, how do we make it on to the Nice list?

There is a check list, of course, of mandatory things every child must accomplish to make it onto the Nice list.

Santa decided in our weekly meeting yesterday that I could share this special checklist with you!

This is an EXCLUSIVE breaking news story! Only The North Pole Daily has access to this list!

Lucky you!

The Nice List

Check List

1. Does the child clean their room when asked?

2. Does the child do their homework?

3. Does the child eat their vegetables?

4. Are the words 'Please' and 'Thank you' used when appropriate?

5. Do they play with their siblings and friends nicely?

7. Do they do nice things for their family?

8. Do they believe in Santa?

There you go kiddos!

Santa really loves each one of you and wants you to have the best Christmas ever! Follow this list and I'm sure your Christmas will be the best!

Getting Christmas Ready!

Well children,
Now is the time to start preparing for Christmas! Of course, us elves have been preparing for this Christmas since December 26th, 2007. There were so many good little boys and girls last year! You wiped us out clean! So naturally we had to start preparations for this Christmas the very next day. That's ok. We woke up bright and early, had our cup of cocoa and went to work!

This year is especially magical and special! Santa has allowed me, his special elf Orophin, to keep you updated on the happenings of the North pole!

If you're good enough (have to be on the 'Nice' list) Santa may even give you a little phone call to check in on you! Keep checking back for the headline news of the North Pole!
If you want to send Santa a little letter, go ahead and write him
at messagetosanta@hotmail.com
He checks them frequently and will reply!

Until next time kids, BE GOOD! I think he's going over the list right now!

Happy Holidays!
